try playing with it again. u see that if u use BG and move it outwards starting from LOCATION B, u see the detector lighting up at RIGHT.

So from wad i see here, i conclude tht it is repelling BG n therefore, the force is moving outwards(as in towards left), and therefore, the force aligns to it.
